A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge
(1985)

Set five years after the original nightmare, Freddy seeks a way to return to life by possessing the body of teenager Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton), who recently moved into Nancy’s old house with his family. Jesse is increasingly tormented by Freddy, who pushes him to commit violent acts in the real world. Jesse is confused and terrified as he realizes he is losing control of himself.

This time around, Freddy is more intense and psychologically invasive, using Jesse’s body to escape his dream prison. His sadistic persona is even more violent and manipulative. This film boasts extravagant practical special effects, and one of the most disturbing and gruesome “entries” of Freddy, where he uses Jesse’s body to crash the party.

Freddy creates claustrophobic, unsettling dreamscapes filled with darkness and fire, where Jesse becomes an unwilling vessel. Victims are killed both in and out of dreams, including an intense pool party massacre where Freddy manifests in the real world.

Jesse’s girlfriend, Lisa (Kim Myers), confronts Freddy, appealing to Jesse’s humanity. Her love for him weakens Freddy’s hold, forcing him to release Jesse, seemingly “killing” Freddy in the process.

"One, two, he's coming for you…
Three, four, find strength once more.
Five, six, new dream tricks…
Seven, eight, warriors' fate."
