Jason X (2001)

The tenth film takes a radical departure by sending Jason into space. Set in the distant future, Jason is cryogenically frozen and awakens aboard a spaceship named the Grendel. The film’s futuristic setting includes sleek metal corridors, laboratories, and a holographic simulation of Crystal Lake, blending sci-fi aesthetics with familiar horror elements.

The doomed characters consist of a crew of scientists, soldiers, and students who discover Jason’s frozen body. They underestimate the danger he poses, believing him to be just a relic of the past. Their mix of curiosity, greed, and arrogance leads them to be caught off guard as Jason begins his slaughter.

Jason initially appears in his standard form, but after being severely damaged, he is accidentally upgraded by futuristic nanotechnology into “Uber Jason,” a cyborg version with metallic body parts and an enhanced hockey mask, making him even more indestructible. The most creative kill is when Jason dips a scientist's face in liquid nitrogen and smashes it against a counter. In the film's climax, Jason is blasted into space and burns up on re-entry, seemingly destroying him — for now.

"Sent to the stars, and burned in the flame, but a match with Freddy will spark the next game!"
